Over the years Richard has drawn on his extensive experience to build a reputation for RINC|® as the creative production entity with numerous national clients including Levi Strauss & Co., Yahoo!, Netflix and the American Academy of Ophthalmology.

Richard Childs was born into a theatrical family in London and grew up during the era of the Swinging 60s.

When the Childs family got their first television set it was black and white and 405 lines of resolution.  Programming choices spanned two channels, BBC and ITV and ran from about 4 in the afternoon to midnight.  But this was the golden age of British broadcasting. Culture, travel and philosophy made television a true ‘window on the World.’  Richard was captivated and decided that when he grew up he wanted to start his very own video production company.

When his father’s job went belly up, Richard’s family decided that if they were going to be destitute, they might as well do it in the sun.  They moved to the Mediterranean island of Malta where they lived for two years.  Here Richard went to school, did little work, much socializing and made many new friends from around the world including such exotic places as San Francisco.

Back in the U.K. and despite a complete lack of any academic qualifications, Richard landed a job at the BBC moving film cans around the BBC’s film library.  He moved up the ladder and eventually became an assistant film editor working with some of the BBC’s top producers in the Documentary, Science Features, Music & Arts and Drama departments.

After working at the BBC for 6 years, Richard boarded a flight to San Francisco and promoted himself to editor somewhere over the Atlantic.

In San Francisco’s infamous SOMA district, Richard discovered and joined a fledgling animation studio, the infamous (Colossal)Pictures.  Here he spent the next 10 years working as an editor, digital artist and director.

During this time he developed an interest in travel and headed off to see the world.  He also joined the crew of a sailing ketch and sailed from San Francisco to Tahiti where he met Dory, his wife-to-be.

Richard and Dory moved back to California, got married and bought a piece of land on a ridge-top along the Mendocino coast.  They had a daughter, built a house, got some horses and Richard started his very own video production company using his initials and registering them as a trade mark,

RINC|®.

Today Richard Childs divides his time between producing video and media projects for major corporate clients in the Bay Area and mucking out horse paddocks at home in Mendocino County.
